George Karl took a little passive cheap shot at Iverson's game this last week. You can read the short story here. Most people would say that George Karl was stating the obvious. But, you gotta let someone air it out. Its got to be tough to coach a player like Iverson. A player who is full of attitude and money. He's really got nothing to lose when he stands up to a coach or management. Unfortunately for Iverson, he is in an era where there are lot of strong players out there, and his game is not built to win. Of course, he has now been placed in a strong team, in the Pistons, and they will win many regular season games. Yet, in the end, I believe they will not be able to execute, lacking that strong and dominating point guard they need. They're hoping that Stuckey will be the Rajon Rondo to Rasheed, Iverson, Rip and Prince. But none of those players resemble Pierce or Garnett. Those guys played at another level.

Dante Culpepper has decided to retire. With his career continuing a downward slope due to injury, weak teams and a variety of other reasons, it isn't a surprise. His letter to the NFL is pretty good though (courtesy of ESPN.com): Former Vikings, Dolphins and Raiders quarterback Daunte Culpepper announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday. He issued the following statement:
When free agency began this year, I had a new sense of excitement about continuing to rebuild my career in the same way that I had rebuilt my knee after my catastrophic injury in 2005. Unfortunately, what I found out was that the league did not share any of the optimism about me as an unrestricted free agent that I expected. In fact, there was an overwhelming sense that there was no room for me among this year's group of quarterbacks; whether in a starting, competing or a back-up role. No matter what I did or said, there seemed to be a unified message from teams that I was not welcome to compete for one of the many jobs that were available at the quarterback position. It seems that the stance I took in both Minnesota and Miami regarding my rights as a person and player has followed me into free agency.

What can you say? Once a moron, always a moron. The trouble that Carmelo got into yesterday morning is not one to laugh at. However, Carmelo himself is a joke. Read the short ESPN article out. Done? Ok, did you see that his fiancee refused to pick him up after he was pulled over for the DUI? Also, did you not snicker when the article said Allen Iverson was standing next to him during his apologetic statement. Allen Iverson? Are you kidding me? There has got to be someone else you can find to uplift your public image right? Couldn't you find Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason or someone more humane? So, whats next Melo, distribution of banned substances to minors while driving an ice cream truck?

- So many people want to love Roddick. Oooh, he beat Federer- for the first time in 12 tries. What the hell is that to celebrate about? He beat Federer in a quarterfinals match and lost in the semis. Who even knows if he would have beat Nadal, the runner-up, in the finals?
boohoo baby, with a capital 'P' baby! What's all that cryin about? Why the heck is this guy in the hall of fame anyways? He won one national championship as a coach. Is that hall of fame quality?- On the other end, Ewing and his oversized nostrils also is in the hall of fame. Statistically, yes, the man belongs there. It's a shame he couldn't pick up a title or two. It's what happens when they team you up with the likes of Greg Anthony, Chris Childs, Charles Smith...
- Hakeem. What can you say. Scoring titles, championships, patented and registered moves. Easy and easily one of the top 20 players in NBA history.
- Brandon Rush, Derrick Rose, CDR, Mario Chalmers are quite the bunch of talented players that will be displayed tonight in the National Title game. Memphis by 5.
